I found these little gems when my dad was in the hospital several years ago. They are supposed to bring good luck. I gave away a bunch and I kept a few. Everyone needs good luck, right? What I didn't anticipate was the wandering. They move about, decide who they'll associate with and in general fascinate me.
See them in clusters of 3, 2, 1? They started out as 2, 2, 2.
Why do they wander?
Is it the need to be with each other?
Above you can see the crates in front of my desk that house odds and ends that I fancy. They move from crate to crate. They cluster in two's or three's or fours. It changes frequently. I find it amazing.
The big one doesn't wander... at least not that I've ever seen. Perhaps it wanders and then heads home before I notice.
How interesting that they move! I wonder if they have magnets inside of them.
ReplyDeleteThey are marble like creatures - so no magnets.
DeleteI could offer up the theories my children have proposed but that would spoil the magic.
I have two fairy figurines one is quite provocative and the other is dressed in autumn finery. The autumn fairy would constantly turn her back on the provocative fairy. I finally separated them and now she is content to stay in place.
Love them! Do you remember where/how you found them?
ReplyDeleteMy dad was at Saint Marks Hospital here in SLC, UT and they were in the gift shop. This was years ago probably in 2007. Some have little antenna's and some do not. They were not expensive I think they were $1.00.
DeleteMy dad made many more visits to that hospital before he died and I never saw them for sale again.
Oh and the big one I found at Harmon's it is a local grocery store and they always have cute little nothing somethings for a reasonable price. The big one hangs out with my orchid plant and the hanging turtle.
DeleteI see you have lots of lucky objects there- a wishing well, Daruma doll, the ladybugs. You must be very lucky!
ReplyDeleteHi from Nagzilla bloghopping A to Z
You know, I really am a very lucky woman. I got the wishing well when I was a little girl. Now I put the good fortune cookie slips in it. One day I'll have to read them and see if they came true.
DeleteI tried to stop by your blog but wordpress wouldn't let me leave a message. =(
DeleteRemember Mexican Jumping Beans? I thought they were the greatest thing ever until I learned there was a bug inside... (YIKES)
ReplyDeleteYou should draw a little race track/obstacle course for your ladybugs ;) If they want to wander, give them a challenge!
- With love from the A to Z Blog Challenge
That is an awesome idea. I love it.
DeleteI used to have some of these lil ladybugs! i think I have given them all away, but every once in awhile I come across another one! Yours wander, mine hide! But they ARE cute aren't they?
ReplyDeleteThey hide? That is so cute. I really do like them.
DeleteMaybe they enjoy a change in conversation, or just a change of scenery.

Or it gets colder by the window and they cluster where it is warmer.
ReplyDeleteThose are so cute! I think they're curious and social bugs. :) Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteI will. Thank you. I love your story.
DeleteLove the background to your blog. Did you paint it? Also , very interesting about these ladybugs. They really choose who to associate with?? I am fascinated. Also, I need good luck! I'll have to look out for these!
ReplyDeleteI would I was that artistic. It was one of the options.
DeleteOkay, true story. For a reason I won't diclose I do not like pink. I knew that was something that needed to be remedied and it is part of what aided in my decision to choose this back drop.
I am now accepting of pink and even bought a coral colored shirt.
