Extraordinaire
(eks-trA-awR-dee-neR)
extraordinary; uncomon; remarkable
There are people that I think of as extraordinaire. You know the ones. They set goals and achieve them. Not just any goals but out of this world goals. They aim for the moon and hit it every time. The ones with word counts that make the Bible look like a short story. The ones who not only write their story. They do what it takes to finish it. The ones who get their stories out there and they are good. These people amaze me. I long to be one of these people.
"What nobody tells people who are beginners… is that all of us who do creative
work, we get into it because we have good taste. But there is this gap. For the
first couple years you make stuff, and it’s just not that good. It’s trying to
be good, it has potential, but it’s not… your taste is why your work disappoints
you… We know our work doesn’t have this special thing that we want it to have.
We all go through this… It is only by going through a volume of work that you
will close that gap, and your work will be as good as your ambitions.”

The above quote gives me hope. My writing isn't crap. I'm just filling the gap.
I long for the day when my work is as good as my ambitions. Here's hoping we all close the gap!
ReplyDeleteWe'll get there.
DeleteI keep trying.
ReplyDeleteThat is what counts.
DeleteWhat a great quote! Thanks for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy A-Z!
I liked it.
DeleteHappy A-Z back at ya.
Just write true to yourself, what bubbles up from your own creative spring, and you will be happy!
ReplyDeleteA fantastic quote! We just have to keep writing and being true to yourself.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good way of looking at it. It easy to get discouraged when others appear to accomplish so much more.
