Karma

I believe in Karma.  You get what you give.

It sort of sucks when it becomes manifest.
Let me explain.

When the kids were young I always had them shovel the walks for an older lady that lived a few doors down.   When we got that huge snow storm in late March the kid from across the street shoveled my walks.

While I felt grateful that someone would do that for me. It was the realization that I'm the old lady of the neighborhood now that sort of stung.

This is what it looked like a few hours before it stopped snowing.  I was very thankful I didn't have to shovel, but still...

    1. It was terrible. Not as bad as our neighbors back east, but still...

  2. Maybe if your kids hadn't done that for someone else, you would've had to dig your own self out. :) And I don't miss snow. Not at all. :)

    1. I liked it. It was good. It's just the thought that I'm now the old lady. ;)

  4. Love it! I've always been a believer in the what goes around comes around philosophy. Sometimes we don't even realize when it does happen, then other times we are hit with the epiphany.

    1. What I think is funny are times when I'll laugh at my boss for wandering in and out of the office like he can't remember why he was leaving in the first place.

Then later in the afternoon I have a co-worker laughing at my 'cause I can't remember where I put the fabreeze.

  5. Interesting post Jai! Nothing wrong with being the 'old lady of the neighbourhood"! Hope the kids keep on helping out - they sound sweet!

  7. It is hard to wake up one day and realize you are old, especially when you still feel young at heart and mind. I'm not even going to mention the body. :) I really enjoyed your story on Karma and loved that you taught your children to help others.

  16. LOL Oh how true! It has been quite a rude awakening to realize we are no longer the youngsters in our neighborhood. I swore I would never be a cranky old lady and have had to bite my tongue a few times when these youngsters around here get out of hand:)
I am so sorry to hear about your neighbor.

  20. I think it is great that someone showed you a random act of kindness. Here where I am from, I get paranoid when a stranger shows me an act of kindness, because it so rarely happens that someone wants to do something for you, without wanting anything in return. Great post.

  23. Today is sunny. But there is snow in the forecast.

I love good karma and have to laugh at myself when it is bad. I always know where the bad comes from because karma reminds me pretty quickly to 'play nice'.

  26. When I was a kid my Dad's co-workers would call us when they got stuck on a level in Super Mario Bros or Donkey Kong. My brother or I would help them and then make fun of those silly adults trying to play our video games.

The other day my boss' son was in the office playing Lego Star Wars. I've been stuck on that game for months. I asked him how to get past level 5. He was very nice about helping me but now he's probably home laughing about "that silly adult" in his moms office. *sigh* lol!
