Wow - that is amazing that the Insecure Writers Support Group is two years old.   Thanks Alex you've built a wonderful community of writers. I am so happy that I discovered IWSG.

What did I do last month.  Not a lot of blogging I'm afraid.  I did complete AugNo with 50K.  This month I am going to wade in to the 85K that I wrote between Camp NaNo and AugNo and see if I can do something with this mess.

I'm doing the read through right now and it is pretty hilarious.  On the first page I made a typo. My subconscious KNEW I'd made the error and I even dreamed about it.  But in the tradition of NaNo there is no going back only forward knowing you'll fix it during the editing phase.

The typo?  My MC was waiting for the fairy.  Which in fantasy could work.  What she really wanted was a ferry to take her to the island her aunt lived on, but hey a little pixie dust and the fairy would work too.

    1. Thanks. It is a lot of words and in the rereading I'm really all over the map. The next couple of months will be interesting turning this primordial goo into something. ;)

  2. That is a funny typo. I've had a few like that, where on the reading through the story, the typo word made the sentence ridiculous and funny. Good luck wading through 85K.

    1. Sometimes that's the best part of NaNo. That and the sentences where you cock your head to the side and think, Wha???

  3. If you have to deal with typos, those are the best kind. Everyone could use a little fairy dust in there life.

    Happy two years IWSG!

  4. LOL. 50K? That's not too shabby! (Says the woman who only managed 25.) Seriously, I don't know how you did it, but way to write!

    1. I tried really hard to ignore the editor. Worked most days.

  5. Too funny. Who says you have to pick the genre before you write the story? haha.

  7. Maybe it could be a fairy ferry! Words can be funny things can't they? 50K is a great word count, well done.

    1. This story is changing all the time. A fairy ferry would be interesting.

One has to wonder why a fairy would need a ferry...

  8. Congrats on hitting 50K!! That is so awesome! And, not that blogging isn't great, but SO MUCH more important than blogging. So far as time management goes, you made the right choice!

And if your biggest issue on page one is a typo then you're way ahead of the game.

    1. Well, it was just the beginning of some oddities. But it was a funny one.

  9. I keep mixing up 'subconsciously' and 'unconsciously'. And then there was the time the bell toiled. *facepalm*

    1. Oh my gosh. That is awesome.

I named a character Thad and I continually typed his name as That. That one is a *head desk*

  10. How cute to mention your typo! I do things all the time like that with many things I enjoy doing, including writing in my notebooks, and I get the message, I ignore it and always say thanks to it when I act on it....weird but true...I guess that is what subs are for, a gentle reminder! Ha Ha... a Congratulations on your accomplishments! www.sandysanderellasmusings.blogspot.com

    1. I was kind of thinking about that myself.

"Where did you get the idea for such a terrific story?"

      "Oddly enough, from a typo."

  15. Ah. Those dreaded usage errors--we all make 'em. :)

You should see some of the ones my crit partners catch. And I'm usually good at grammar! :P

    1. When I was first back in the work force I sent out a news letter for my company and I used currant instead of current.

My boss chalked it up to my days as a house frau.

  18. Sill laughing over your typo, Jai! My favorite "whoops" comes from one of my critique partners. Her protagonist was searching out a clue in a store called the Witches' Pantry—not the Witches Panty, which is what she typed. :)

    Good luck with those edits!
